Celebrating the visual languages of PEOPLE, COMMUNITY, CULTURE, and ENVIRONMENT through the global practice of resist-dye traditions and innovations, keeping in mind authenticity, reciprocity, and networking.
This week we remember Shirlaine Kee Baldwin, wife of Bob Baldwin, both long time WSN members. Her love for textiles led her to many exotic and interesting places in the world including Japan with the Slow Fiber Studios tour, and we are so glad we got to share that experience with her.
You can view a beautiful commemorative album which her family put together, by going here. It tells of Shirlaine’s life, and all the journey’s she shared with Bob and their two children. Her daughter Amiee ,a talented artist, worked with us as an office manager for World Shibori Network a while ago. A longtime resident of Berkeley, Shirlaine dedicated her life to many community causes. She was a founder of Hip Wah summer Chinese program that still continues to this day. Let’s take a moment and remember Shirlaine and the wonderful life she lived. Thank you.
