“The Legend of Weaver Goddess”
“QiXi Festival is a Chinese festival that celebrates the forbidden love between the Weaver Goddess and the cowherd. This affectionate couple was separated by God of Heaven to opposite sides of the Silver River. Only once a year, on the 7th day of the 7th lunar month, a flock of magpies would form a bridge to reunite the lovers for one day. Over centuries, on this specific day, young girls will recite traditional prayers for dexterity in needlework, which symbolizes the traditional talents of the Weaver Goddess.”
