Celebrating the visual languages of PEOPLE, COMMUNITY, CULTURE, and ENVIRONMENT through the global practice of resist-dye traditions and innovations, keeping in mind authenticity, reciprocity, and networking.
We have just received a wonderful article, written by Katherine Roth of Associated Press, titled Shibori: an Ancient Art Now Revamped and Revisited. The piece discusses how shibori is influencing contemporary designers at both a small and large scale in both the fashion and interior design world. From i-phone cases to duvet covers we are beginning to see shibori in all corners of the consumer marketplace. She discusses how the “revamping” and “revisiting” of shibori and it’s “slow movement” is important to it’s survival in today’s world of design and culture. We are happy to see that World Shibori Network and was mentioned in the article, and our founder, Yoshiko I. Wada contributed several statements of her insight.
The article is a great dialogue about the practice of shibori in today’s world through fashion and design. We encourage you to read on!
Read the article here. A big thank you to Kathleen Roth!
