As part of Part of the UC Botanical Garden’s Fiber and Dye Exhibition, Yoshiko Wada will be giving a lecture next month along with a preview of her new Natural Dye Workshop film: Colors of Europe at the UC Botanical Gardens.
The UC Botanical Garden at Berkeley is delighted to have Yoshiko Iwamoto Wada, scholar and visionary president of the World Shibori Network and Founder of Slow Fibers Studios in Berkeley for an evening to learn about her work documenting the teachings of French Botanist-Chemist-Dyer Michel Garcia. She’ll share bits of the three films she has produced, on his Sustainable Dye and Pigment Methods. After a film viewing, she’ll demonstrate an organic indigo vats using the simple 1,2,3 method with henna, fructose, etc. This will be an opportunity to purchase her films, rare books and ask questions about her work with sustainable textile practices. A portion of sales will go to benefit the UC Botanical Garden.
