WSN Member Sylvia Riley of Silksational, based out of Australia, will be hosting 2 workshops taught by shibori artist Jane Callendar this March. Both exciting workshops will be covering shibori techniques such as arashi and experimentation with various dye processes, including indigo. The workshops will be held in the Sydney area, and are available now for registration.

Workshop 1 – 27-28 March 2014

In this workshop we will be exploring and refining shibori techniques of stitch, arashi and binding, alone and in combination. Three indigo vats (weak, medium, strong) will be made up and attention will be given to reserving and selective dyeing procedures.  Cost $ 250

Workshop 2 – 29-30 March 2014

This is an advanced shibori workshop and requires a prior knowledge of shibori techniques. Traditional stitch techniques will be used as a basis for complex design, further exploration of arashi and binding, degumming, iron rust, permanganate and fibre reactive dyes will be explored in the context of shibori resist techniques. Cost $ 250
