About the Showcase
The 2016 Textile Society of America Symposium will take place in Savannah, Georgia on the campus of the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) and at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. The 2016 symposium includes workshops, study tours, special programs and an award ceremony in addition to the symposium sessions and exhibitions.
The theme of TSA’s 15th Biennial Symposium is Crosscurrents: Land, Labor, and the Port. Participants are invited to explore the ways in which textiles shape, and are shaped by historical, geographical, technological and economic aspects of colonialization and/or globalization. The submission categories are individual papers, organised sessions, round-tables, film/digital media, posters and organised exhibitions. Click < here > to learn more.
Guidelines & Eligibility
All submissions must be made online < here >. | Submissions should be based on original research, reflecting material not previously published. | Individuals may complete multiple submissions.| Everyone submitting a proposal for participation in the 2016 Symposium must be a TSA member. TSA follows a policy of peer review and merit consideration for acceptance into the symposium program. Initial review of proposals and abstracts by the jury will be done without author identification.Final selections will be made by the Symposium Program Committee, composed of representatives from the Symposium Organizing Committee and the TSA Board, based on jurors’ ranking and comments; relatedness to the symposium theme and the interests of Textile Society of America; originality and clarity.
Registration & Aid
All presenters must register for the symposium and pay the accompanying registration fee. Registration rates will be announced when registration opens and usually range from $350-$450 for presenters. TSA offers a limited number of need and merit-based scholarships and awards.
