We’re pleased to offer a range of te-kumo shibori samples tied by the master Arimatsu artisan Mrs. Tomeko Honma (aged over 90) at the Slow Fiber Studios shop.
Te-kumo shibori is a hand tied spider pattern. This technique is considered one of the foundations of Arimatsu shibori. It’s simple yet considerable skill is required to tie consistently with perfect spacing. The te-kumo artisans create patterns by varying spacing and the position of binding on each unit ( to understand more about te-kumo variations please watch this DVD ). These samples can be dyed to reveal the te-kumo shibori pattern or retained as a 3D shibori art piece. To view these samples please visit < here >
Due to popular demand, we have restocked limited quantities of specialised shibori tools from Japan, which includes te-kumo hooks, shibori stands, handcrafted wooden bobbins and binding thread. For more information on these items, please visit < here >
