We’re currently looking for an Assistant Director to join our team. This candidate will actively work on WSN’s programs – Slow Fiber Studios, Natural Dye Workshop as well as with WSN President Yoshiko I. WadaWe are looking for a textile enthusiast who looks to learn from our nurturing office environment.

Duties will include assisting in event programming, workshops, demonstrations and coordinating with visiting artists and scholars; promoting events online, managing email and member database, and maintaining websites and blog; creating basic designs for promotional visuals and taking initiative in documenting and archiving. ~ Highly organized with attention to detail and enthusiasm for learning and creative thinking.

~ Ability to take on new challenges with fluid efficiency, flexibility, and creativity.

~ Interest in textile arts.

~ Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel , Google Email, and Mac OS is essential.

A familiarity with Adobe Suite 5 and up, Organizational Cloud Software (Box, Dropbox), Basic Skills in WordPress, and understanding the basic steps of email marketing (i.e. Robly) is helpful to jumpstarting your training.

Location: Bay Area, CA. North Berkeley hills near Tilden Park. Helpful to have one’s own transportation, though not mandatory as location is accessible by public transportation.

Hours: 15+/- hours/week to start, primarily during the week, with some weekend/evening hours during workshops, lectures, and special events.

Pay: starts at $15.00/hr during training period.
