WSN Member and shibori artist extraordinaire Carol Anne Grotrian is offering a chance to explore the world of indigo and shibori, this summer at Prochemical & Dye, MA.

The class will start with easy to learn basics, followed by advanced techniques, with an emphasis on individual attention and experimentation. Historical use of indigo will be discussed, but the class will take advantage of modern improvements that make indigo simple to use. Though no experience is necessary to participate, experienced dyers will be able to welcome.
About Carol Anne
Carol Anne Grotrian has explored shibori dyeing techniques for more than three decades. The organic patterns of shibori have found a voice in her landscape quilts, providing her with inspiration, challenges, and ideas for more quilts than she has time to make. Indigo dyeing also appears often in her work, including whole cloth stitched resist quilts.
Carol Anne has taught quilting and surface design techniques for many years. In 2005, she taught at the Sansia Indigo Symposium and Festival in Taipei County, Taiwan. She has exhibited nationally and internationally, and has quilts in corporate, private and museum collections. Her work has also been featured in many publications, most recently in Textiles: The Art of Mankind. Her studio is in her home in Cambridge, MA, and her web site is www.carolannegrotrian.com.
