Japan Tour 3: An Insider’s Tour

September 30 - October 15

This fall, we are delighted to present An Insiders’ Tour: Hands, Hearts, and Soul of Japan, a unique program curated for the patrons of the World Shibori Network (WSNF) by WSN founder, Yoshiko I. Wada, rooted in her professional, academic, and personal experiences in Japan.

Yoshiko will lead the tour with WSNF advisor Matko Tomicic, who assisted her mentor Jack Lenor Larsen for nearly 30 years as Director of the LongHouse Reserve. Additionally, a professional tour conductor will facilitate the logistics throughout the trip.

From bathing in healing hot springs to culinary adventures, you will be delighted with our diverse program, full of unexpected and inspiring experiences of a different Japan. As touring Japan calls for much walking, travelers are advised that there may be long train platforms to traverse and that some agility may be needed when negotiating steps in traditional houses and gardens.

With the pandemic still looming, many Japanese are choosing to travel domestically. With the country opening up, an influx of foreign travelers is adding to a shortage of rooms in desirable hotels. The pressure is less in the far north, where we find old and new, regionally grounded and imaginative hospitality and comfort, which are hard to find in urban and central regions.

Details and pricing are available on the members’ dashboard OR for those who pre-register.
