Tesuji X Nui Combo Shibori 2 with Kakishibu Alumni 2-Day Workshop Day 1 of 2

Shibori-Alumni Hybrid Workshop, on two Saturdays, three hours each from 15:00-18:00 PST on 12 and 19 November 2022
Hiroshi Murase, Master Arimatsu Shibori Artisan, will teach from Japan.
Yoshiko Iwamoto Wada will moderate and translate the workshop from the Murase Studio in Arimatsu.
Tesuji Shibori involves hand-pleating, and the Arimatsu artisans have been ingenious in innovating a variety of ways to create dynamic designs on cotton yukata, kimono, and tenugui.
Ori-nui Shibori, folded-edge stitch-resist thread is drawn tightly before dyeing. Process illustrations are found in the book “Shibori: The Inventive Art of Japanese Shaped Resist Dyeing” by Wada, Rice, and Barton. (c)1983
Kakishibu (persimmon tannin) in a unique concentrated powder form is available for the workshop to combine with indigo blue.

After the workshop, go to SFTV to rent streamed recordings of this workshop for 90 days, free of charge. The code for free rental will be provided in the registration confirmation email from Eventbrite.

For Tesuji: Tesuji Stand PDFA stainless steel shibori stand and/or a tesuji stand (or make your own with a PVC-pipe), shibori binding thread on a cone, and a long wooden dowel (medium diameter). Remember a C-clamp to secure the shibori or PVC-pipe tesuji stand to a table.
