June 4 to June 9, 2024 | 6 days & 5 nights in Tokyo | Yamazaki Natural Dye & Rice Paste Resist Workshop | Hisako Sekijima Off-loom Fiber Construction & Contemporary Basketry Workshop

A 6-day and 5-night Travel for Workshops™ program in Tokyo curated by Yoshiko I. Wada. The focus is on two workshops held over 3-days: 1) You’ll enter the world of Japanese Natural Dyes when you study with Hiroki and Kazuki Yamazaki. They hold the knowledge of four generations of natural dyers, researchers, and artists. They will also teach Japanese rice paste resist, a natural and eco-friendly resist.  2) Explore off-loom fiber construction with Hisako Sekijima, internationally recognized for her understanding of fiber and fiber construction–a master of listening to the materials! She is an acclaimed contemporary basketry artist.

Join us for this intimate cultural and rare Japanese Natural Dyes and Fiber Arts/ Basketry experience! Space is limited to 12 participants. You will be accompanied by bilingual WSNF program facilitator and artist, Mayumi Fuijo, throughout the program. The tour starts in Tokyo on 6/4/2024 and ends in Tokyo on 6/9/2024. Participants are advised to arrive in Japan on 6/3/2024 and book their own room at the Mitsui Garden Hotel Gotanda, Tokyo. Tour 2 participants joining Tour 3 will travel from Nagoya to Tokyo on 6/4/2024 with Mayumi.

June 4 to June 9, 2024 | 6 days & 5 nights

$3250*: Includes a $400 fully tax-deductible donation to the World Shibori Network Foundation. 

$400: Single-Occupancy Supplemental fee

The tour cost covers tuition and materials for both workshops, double-occupancy accommodations, local ground transportation, and the most delicious and healthy meals to complete your cultural experience (5 Breakfasts, 4 Lunches, and 5 Dinners). A maximum of 12 participants will be accompanied by a bilingual program facilitator, Mayumi Fuijo. A supplemental fee for single occupancy for 5 nights is $400.

*Airfare is not included.

To reserve your space on the tour, please make the first payment of $1625 (half the tour cost). If you know you’d like a single-occupancy room, please also pay the single-occupancy supplemental fee of $400, as the number of rooms is limited. A 3% fee will be added during checkout for credit card payments.
