Treasured Times and Places: An Insider’s Tour of Ancient and Modern Mexico
March 13 - March 26
March 13 to March 26, 2024 | 12 days & nights
We are delighted to present for Spring 2024, Treasured Times and Places: An Insider’s Tour of Ancient and Modern Mexico, a unique program curated for the patrons of the World Shibori Network Foundation (WSNF) by founder, Yoshiko I. Wada, rooted in her professional, academic, and personal experiences in Mexico.
In 2016, Yoshiko co-chaired the 10th International Shibori Symposium in Oaxaca, Mexico with Alejandro de Avila Blomberg, Director of the Ethnobotanical Garden of Oaxaca in the former Santo Domingo Convent.
In 2012 with support from Franciso Toledo and Triene at their Centro de Las Artes San Agustin, Michel Garcia and Yoshiko produced Natural Dye Workshop, The Colors of the Americas.
Yoshiko will lead the tour with WSNF advisor Matko Tomicic, who assisted her mentor Jack Lenor Larsen for nearly 30 years as Director of the LongHouse Reserve.
A beautiful juxtaposition of modern and traditional, colonial and indigenous cultures, meant to raise your curiosity, heighten your senses, and stimulate your mind, you will see Mexico for the treasure that it is.
Art spaces, historical and archeological sites, community, and serene, comforting natural sites are on our itinerary in Mexico City, at Aztec ruins, pyramids, mountain villages, museums, murals, weaving villages, Oaxaca, and more.
We present to you the culinary expertise and creativity of world-renowned chefs and regional cooks. We promise that your tastebuds will blossom with sublime new flavors and combinations. You will be welcomed into the homes of good friends.
This extraordinary program calls for well-informed, cultured, local friends guiding us. Alexandra and her dynamic young daughter, Kiana, accompany us throughout the program.
