.

This is a rare opportunity to travel with me in a small group to India. I lived in Ahmedabad in 1983/84 under the Indo-US Subcommission for Education & Culture Fellowship. I was affiliated with the National Institute of Design (NID) and established a wonderful friendship with numerous fine, talented people. Subsequently, over a span of 9 years, I went back to India for 1 to 3 months at a time and traveled extensively throughout the country. Over the past decades, I have made annual trips back to India for various projects — ongoing consultancy assignments primarily for Christina Kim of dosa inc. and  Aranya as pro bono; to co-chair the 2nd International Shibori Symposium held at NID; and for Sri Yantra, a post-earthquake seminar I organized in which Jack Lenor Larsen, Christina Kim, and Marian Clayden took part.

This travel experience will be planned with many surprises.  Since the group is purposely small, some of your wishes may be reflected during our travels. Let us communicate your interest and research.

– Yoshiko

WHERE: Ahmedabad, Pollachi, Kochi, Mumbai, Bhuj

PRICE$3080 FINAL ADJUSTED PRICE $2800*

Due to failing exchange rates, we are forced to adjust the tour’s originally quoted price by +10%. Price is for 1/13-1/30 program, based on “shared accommodations” (ie staying in room with 2 twin beds). Package includes all domestic flights; workshop fees and materials; ground transportation unless otherwise noted; some meals. Please note sometimes the accommodations may be very simple. When single occupancy room is requested, it is not always possible at certain lodgings but we will try to accommodate  — a “single supplement” charge will apply.

Not the following flights are your responsibility: (a) R/T international flight; (b) domestic flight to Ahmedabad; (c) domestic flight from Bhuj to your next destination or departing international airport.

MINIMUM / MAX SIGN-UP: The projected tour is based on 8-10 passengers. We will allow no more than 10 on this trip. This includes Yoshiko acting in the dual role of program leader and often also as a guide to cut cost to minimum. If fewer than 7 people sign up, this trip may be canceled (or costs/terms renegotiated). Details to be posted under Terms & Conditions.

BONUS: Current WSN web members are given priority registration and also receive a $50 discount from the tour price. Everyone on an SFS Tour will automatically become a WSN web member upon completion of their trip.
